Signal to Noise | Museum of the Moving Image
The Museum of the Moving Image recently underwent a major sexy sci-fi makeover and re-opened its doors in Astoria last night with Signal to Noise, a super stylish soiree. New York listen up, we have another not to miss party. With a line of beautiful people that stretched around the block until after midnight, Queens was the place to be. Metromix bumped into a friend in the crowd and we wondered aloud just how so much great hair (and boots!) could be gathered under one well-coiffed roof at once, it seemed impossible.
Upstairs guests interacted with some mind-bending 3D film technology and interactive film innovations... more than one was seen dancing on the main floor still wearing the museum's dark-rimmed 3D glasses. Where else can you stare admiringly at Chewbacca's original mask or Mork's original sparkly bodysuit, while avant garde artists play a panoply of strange instruments accompanied by experimental films? And we may have discovered our new favorite band - Fall On Your Sword - when we finally left the funky lobby dancefloor and ventured into another secret performance space. Who knew a night at a museum could be so fun? SEE COMPLETE GALLERY
