Steampunk Fashion Show
The annual Steampunk Fashion Show took place this weekend at the DUMBO Lofts in the shadow of the Manhattan Bridge, and once again those with an eye for alt-fashion had a lot to "ooooh and ahhhh" over. The show opened with a very theatrical collection from Kristin Costa, who once again drew inspiration from the idea of being trapped and enclosed for her very corset-centric collection, this time it was glass boxes rather than cages.
Alex London's designs delved into ideas of Elizabethan fashion with corseted rich brocades and dramatic necklines. No Human Intention showed at the Steampunk show for the first time, and brought a very neo-Victorian sensibility to the runway. The show closed with Berit New York, with an eclectic season featuring a kind of Robin Hood/Little Red Riding Hood superhero aesthetic.
