Tardy Gras | Zebulon
Last night at Zebulon in Williamsburg party seekers celebrated a brand spanking new holiday, Tardy Gras, created by Jonathan Toubin's movable feast of a party New York Night Train. As Toubin was hanging beads around our neck he said, "I think we could make this really big in New York, we want to make this an annual thing and try and bring some of the best bands up from New Orleans."
There were dance routines in matching, gold-fringed leotards from the Solid GO dancers, there was New Orleans-style live jazz from "Big Man" Reverend Vince Anderson and his Love Choir and there was sweet soul music from DJs Jonathan Toubin and Jim Sclavunos, there was King Cake, and there were beads, and it all starts to get hazy, but we think there was a dance-off at some point...
All we know today is that we have blisters on our feet from dancing, a headache from drinking and we stumbled into bed some time around 6am, that darned Daylight Savings Time. The party continued as Toubin and Sclavunos packed up their records and headed for the 5-7 am DJ shift at Rocky's Rockstar Bar. Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler! SEE FULL GALLERY
