The Salon's 10th Anniversary Extravaganza
It was 10 years ago that The Salon first asked people to put on their party clothes and dancing shoes and celebrate the music and fashion of bygone eras. And so, it came as no surprise that Friday night they celebrated their anniversary in style at The Edison Ballroom with a Celebrating Sinatra bash.
Salon founder Patrick Soluri even put together a band featuring four legendary musicians who played with Sinatra. MCed by Metromix fave Mr. Dandy Wellington, who kept the evening of music and burlesque moving along at a pace, with additional performances from the Harlem Renaissance Orchestra, The World Famous Pontani Sisters, Grace Gotham, Gelber and Manning and others, there was enough swinging and swaying and Hollywood foxtrotting to go around for everyone.
Nothing quite says "good time" like an open bar and passed hors d'oeuvres straight out of 1955, especially when cocktail offerings included classics with a twist like Perfect Old Fashioneds and Negroni Royales, concocted by Fredo Ceraso (Loungerati) and Kenneth McCoy (Ward III and the nearby Rum House). It was a fete worthy of the old art deco ballroom, the glittering gowns, bare shoulders and the white tuxes were right at home in the opulent old club. Can't wait for the next one!
