Punk meets noise meets dance meets gay hip-hop at the summer's most unusual concert
What do Canadian indie-rockers Tokyo Police Club, Florida punks Against Me! (pictured), "sissy bounce" rapper Big Freedia (and his behind-obssesed back-up dancers), noise duo Japanther and Brooklyn electro-rockers Team Robespierre have in common? Besides all sharing the same bill at the House of Vans, not a whole lot. That said, these five wildly divergent bands won near-equal adoration from the Brooklyn crowd on Thursday night. Hooray, diversity!
