Down & Derby Roller Disco
It was date night at the roller rink circa 1983 last night at the subterranean Good Units at the Hudson Hotel. With fancy new digs, the Down & Derby Roller Disco is back, folks, and we didn't realize how much we missed it. The free Colt 45 might have been missing from when the party was held at Brooklyn's long gone Studio B, but that made for fewer spills on the "rink," and the party's new central location made it easier for fearless fun seekers to join in. We don't really know what was going on, all we know is that with people whizzing by us fast enough to give us whiplash, on honest-to-goodness, actual rollerskates (available to rent at the party, in case you're worried about a lack of skates in your life), and some classic feel good tunes that spanned from deep catalog '70s funky grinds to Daft Punk, the good people of Down & Derby are on to something like totally awesome.
