Uki Uki Nights
On Friday night, the Japan Society hosted a '60s Japanese pop night, complete with fashion-forward dress-ups, drinks and dancing. Japanophiles lounged around the red-lit, lantern decorated space and listened to the fun jams by DJ Saiko Mikan as vintage Japanese stills flashed to the beat. The party featured trivia contests, toys from Kid Robot, and a cosplay contest with three lucky winners receiving tickets to New York Comic Con. Upstairs, partygoers viewed the current exhibition, "Bye Bye Kitty!!!" with contemporary art from 16 emerging Japanese artists. Partial proceeds from the night went to the Japan Society's Earthquake Relief Fund.
