Whiskers in Wonderland
The holidays are here and the season of gift giving begins. If you're thinking about bringing a pet home to give someone as a gift this year, consider adopting one of these adorable creatures. The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals can help you find the perfect furry companion (or a scaly one, for that matter). This weekend they hosted the annual pet adoption event, Whiskers in Wonderland at the Metropolitan Pavillion, featuring mainly cats, but a few dogs, rabbits, lizards and snakes for good measure. We're finding it increasingly difficult to go to these events without walking out with a half dozen kittens in our pockets.
But if you're a commitment-phobe and the idea of adopting an animal makes you anxious, many of the rescue services, like Washington Heights Cat Colony, will help you through the process, and you can try fostering a cat to see if you get along and help keep another cat out of the shelter system until they find their forever home.
Newly matched pets and people could have their portraits taken by Kujo and Bear, or just with Kujo if they hadn't found a match yet.
