We at Metromix were on the hunt for the best New Year's party to ring in 2011, and with Winkel & Balktick's W&B Airlines party we might have just scored the mother lode. Thousands - yes, we said THOUSANDS! - of would be airline captains, stewardesses, Hawaiian tourists and other travel enthusiasts lined up in the middle of nowheresville Sunset Park to party the night away in a 45,000 square foot loft.
Interactive arts were featured at all the "gates" and guests could get a Porno Scan from Doctor Adventure and the "TSA," roll in a giant pile of rose petals, visit the Mile High Club, or take a ride in Albert Wilking and Trenton Atelier's rolling dance party on the HeliShuttle. Party guests were searched by surly drunk "cops" and "not dancing" citations were issued by the Fun Police (hey, it's hard to dance with a camera around your neck, OK?!), and there was midnight make out madness aplenty. A visual feast of clandestine dancing and drinking and underground good times until the sun came up and everyone scattered in search of food, showers and the next party. --Gabi Porter
