Neighborhood Guide: Yorkville

Yorkville is sometimes called the German Broadway because of its long-standing ethnic predominance—during WWII Yorkville was known to hold pro-Nazi rallies, a black eye for one of New York’s most cultural hoods. The Heidelberg Restaurant, on East 85th street, celebrates the Teutonic culinary traditions with traditional Jaeger schnitzel and pints of Paulaner Pilsner abound.
