Donuts were hard as rocks and had way too much icing on them. They were no doubt at least a couple days old. And manager was loud and obnoxious. Even Dunin Donuts would be an improvement. However, the coffee was really good even though it was overpriced.

After visiting MaryO's several times with one or two friends, and enjoying ourselves with the gracious bartender Joe, I held my birthday dinner for 8 here. MaryO helped me pick a set menu, and made a terrific cake for the event. My guests and I had a blast, and I ended the evening walking around giving everyone in the place a piece of the cake (which I later regretted because I didn't keep any for myself for later!). MaryO runs a great place with terrific food, service, and atmosphere.

My friends & I tried this place last week, excited for a new bar in the neighbor hood. LAME....back to the real union pool for me. The woods is full of yuppies that think because they bought a condo in williamsburg they are now hip...trying their first PBR with their banker buds. Time to move to bushwich.

Last Sunday because of the snow we decided to go this neighborhood restaurant. I have tried their seafood stew special and my boyfriend wanted to try the New Zealand lamb chops. We have both enjoyed our dinner so much still talking about it . And thinking why we did not try this restaurant before. My opinion best in the neighborhood restaurant and I intend to go there a lot this winter. And so very happy about my new finding.

I went into here about a week ago for a quick snack, all i wanted was two catfish tacos. The guy at the register look annoy when i walked up i paid it no mind and greeted him with a what's up man gave him my order he said ok turn started placing some food from i assume a earlier order in a bag. He then turn back to me just under a minute from when i ordered and said it's going to be about 15mins because he have a large order of about 60 tacos. i looked up and at that time only seen one cook in the kitchen and said kool. after about 7 mins i realize there was actually 4 guys in the kitchen so i called him over and ask if one of the cooks could just make the two tacos while the him and the other three cooks work on the order. He very rude turn around quick and said no,no,no this order is first. I try to reason with him, yes its a large order but the people who order have to know it will take a while and two taco won't hold them up much. He then told me it will be 15 mins again and that the cooks told him not to take orders now until they say it's ok. I thought this was unreasonable and he was getting furstrated i ask for two tacos in the middle of this order he tell me this person spend money to get these tacos first like the have so express service charge i tell him because i'm spending under ten dollars i geust i don't matter he turn and didn't answer i took that as a yes since he didn't deni it. I ask for a manager he told me there's a card in front of me i raised my voice abit because i'm tired of the way i'm being treated and said i ask for a manager name and number not the store business card, he then pointed to the largest of the cooks, i said well can you call him, he called to him i think the guy name was ramone he said take care of this guy he's not happy he has to wait, I think this was a fail scare tactic to try and shut me up because the cook looked out with a puzzle look on his face turned then kept making tacos. i waited abit and ask if he was coming out ( by the way my first 15 is up now) i was ignored. Now a few more people walk in behind me i told them he not taking orders not evening answering me now because they have a large order that must get served first and he told me only a 15 min. wait 20 minutes ago they lady called to him he start to tell her 15 mins i turned and left. This was a truly upsetting experince because even though thier prices are a bit more now compare to whats on here i love the food i just think the service need a touch up they shouldn't forget all the little guys who come in often for those two to three tacos those dollars count too. I might one day return for one of there amazingly good catfish taco's but it definitely won't be in the near future hopfully by then they can learn to multi-task and get someone better to deal with the geust. By the way the guy at the register was about 5'8 white male glasses and scrawny i believe he had light brown hair incase the owners are interested in knowing.

Don Veitia is a very underappreciated , under-rated restaurant . Serving quality food with an excellent wine list , your taste will find anything it desires . The service is efficient and friendly , and the menu is filled with stand-bys and some wholesome favorites

The line for the Tory Burch sample sale was insane, not sure if it was worth it. Anyone brave it all the way through?

Prime Meats and Buttermilk Channel are just fantastic restaurants all around- they have been the best additions to Carroll Gardens in 2009.

Arrived at 7:15 and thought it would be a fairly easy and quick dinner. The restaurant was busy but it took over 25 minutes just to put our order in. An hour later we received our order...but it was wrong. When I said it was wrong the server said "Let me check". I told him "there's nothing to check, it's wrong". No apology, nothing complimentary and when the right food came it just wasn't very good. I will not be returning and I wouldn't reccomend it. You're better off going to Big Nicks...that's right the greasy pizza & burger joint.

You can get your nails done AND grab a beer. It's the perfect place for a bachelorette party esp if the bride isn't into super girly things and has more of a rock vibe. Low key and fun, its a great place to grab a drink in union square.

saraht wrote about Ace Bar

There is nothing particularly remarkable about this bar except for the fact that they have skeeball, two lanes to be exact. Nothing makes a night out more fun than a couple games of skeeball and some beer.

saraht wrote about McSorley's Old Ale House

Super old school and lots of fun, this old time pub is great at serving up mug after mug of cocold beer. It feels like you step back in time when walk into McSorley's with their saw dust floors.

saraht wrote about Grey Dog Coffee

I feel like Grey Dog's food use to be better but nonetheless its still great and the atomsphere feels like a cozy college coffeehouse. Good for tea or a quick sandwich.

This has become one of my favorite take out places- their food is delicious, service is nice and quick and they have plenty of veggie options. Plus their pad thai is one of my favorite in the area. They dining area is nice too but have only eaten in there once.
