Fans can return to Middle-earth a little sooner than expected.

Oscar-winning director Peter Jackson hosts a live first look at the next film in his The Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, on March 24 at 3 p.m. ET/12 PT at thehobbit.com/sneak. The movie, in theaters Dec. 13, will continue the journey of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and the rest of their group to steal back a heap of gold from the dragon Smaug (played via motion-capture by Benedict Cumberbatch).

The live event is limited to holders of an UltraViolet code available only in copies of The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey, which is released on DVD and Blu-ray March 19.

In addition, there will be a Q&A component with Jackson where fans can submit video questions to the filmmaker through the Hobbit Facebook page, the Vine mobile app or by tweeting video links using the #askPeterJackson hashtag.
