'Eden'

In Irish director Declan Recks’ family melodrama, a married couple (Aidan Kelly and Eileen Walsh) learns that marriage isn’t fail-safe, especially when everything appears settled. Although the film, adapted from a play by Eugene O’Brien, has moments that are a bit too theatrical, the first-rate performances from the leads make the film a brave take on the frailties of the human spirit. “Eden” captures the time in anyone’s life in which the recklessness of one’s past is as alluring as the responsibilities of the present are frightening. But the film tell us that picking either option comes at a cost to those we care for most.
