NYC restaurants on film

'Michael Clayton' | The Harrison
Reel time: The restaurant in "Michael Clayton"— nominated for seven Oscars this year—is a smooth place, so unmarked by decor, cuisine or atmosphere that it looks suspicious even though it's the only thing in the movie that's a clean failure. It's the perfect fit for the titular character (George Clooney), the fix-it man for a law firm who makes a bad investment in the restaurant with his brother, leaving him desperate to get $75,000 before it’s too late.
Real life: But while the restaurant in "Clayton" is in trouble, the actual Tribeca location where it was shot, The Harrison, is an unadulterated classic—part movie-star chic, part hedge-fund swank. The food is contemporary American,, and it's the kind of place celebrities go when they aren't trying to make a statement. In other words, the restaurant is like the film: solid on every level and stealthy in how it delivers its punches.
