Even though Amber did not fair well with the public/voters, she can still OUTSING Angie any day of the week. Angie, as Nikki pointed out once, is a broadway, Disney singer. Not an American Idol singer.

Two weeks ago the judges should have used their "SAVE" for Devin. At least he will be on tour. Before that, they should have put Cortez ih the top 10 instead of a couple of guys who DID make it. Hopefully the voters will see the light this week and vote for the BEST vocalist(s)...
jivehombre commented on Sundance Film Festival Diaries 2012: 'Compliance'
Geoff Berkshire panned Fruitvale because the victim Oscar Grant is portrayed "with only fleeting glimpses of his foibles" and ““Fruitvale” forgoes nuanced drama for heart-tugging, head-shaking and rabble-rousing" . But in his review of the exploitative 'COMPLIANCE' Berkshire writes "Zobel successfully skirts exploitation and empty shock value to give us a far more nuanced portrait of deeply inhumane behavior". Berkshire acquiesces to the foible of endorsing Compliance's exploitation by writing “But there’s a contentious divide among those who find the film worth the challenge—as I do—and those who don’t”. Good-luck Geoff with your heroes policeman David R. Stewart the accused but acquitted hoax caller portrayed in Compliance without whom your titillation would not have materialized and Johannes Mehserle (The officer who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter of Oscar Grant and whose past foibles were not admissible at trial).

One thing though is that some singers just only sing one style well, so while they are versatile, someone like Amber needs to change things up anyway to stay in the game, like you said. I have to work late at my DISH office on Wednesday and Thursday nights usually. I use the benefit of watching a recording on my DISH Hopper DVR so I can skip the commercials and have time left over to watch another show. That way I get more enjoyment out of relaxing at home after work.
JimmyMackey commented on 'American Idol' men's semifinal: The recap
Yeah, I saw the “Charlie breakdown“ and it was pretty bad. I don’t think the judges should have put him through to this point anyway; he doesn’t have the stamina and maturity. I have loved Idol since the beginning and still watch only now I work late at my DISH office. I got a DISH Hopper DVR though so I can watch the recordings later and I can skip the commercials with it. That way I save enough time to watch another show that evening and I get more out of my relaxation when I come home.

You’re right that Powell, Taylor and Shaw were definitely leading contenders coming out of last night’s competition. I work at DISH and some of my coworkers said that Powell’s performance will help him make it through as one of the top ten finalists. I missed last night’s episode, but saw some of it on my way to work through the DISH Anywhere app on my iPhone. I like that I can watch recorded TV shows stored on my DVR when I take the train to work by using this feature.
JimmyMackey commented on 'American Idol' Sudden Death, Week Two: The Guys
I didn’t think Josh Holiday’s original was that good either. Perhaps he thought this was his only chance to be recognized for his talent all around. I like Keith’s comment about being raw and passionate though; he’s right. I’m just glad that I don’t miss Idol when I’m working late at my office at DISH now. I just watch it the next day with my Hopper DVR recording that lets me skip commercials on FOX primetime shows like Idol. That is super helpful because I save time and have time to watch another show, getting more out of my relaxation.
JimmyMackey commented on 'American Idol' Sudden Death: Round Two begins
I think this cut was a bit more difficult, which is why some might be surprised that Zoanette made it. She delivered a performance the judges and the audience liked but she did sound like her passion was meant for the theater. I work late on Wednesdays and Thursdays at my DISH office so therefore I have to watch Idol the next evening. I like that I save time by watching commercial free on my DISH Hopper because then I can watch an additional show and get more out of my relaxing evening in front of the TV.
MarkOdin commented on 'American Idol' Sudden Death: Round Two begins
There’s no question that Zoanette Johnson deserved an unanimous endorsement to make it to the next round, but the rest of the contestants were tougher to agree on, especially Janelle Arthur. I work at DISH and several of my coworkers were debating whether Arthur deserved to go or if they should’ve went with Rachel Hale. I am going to watch last night’s episode again later today via the DISH Anywhere app on my iPhone. I like that I can watch live TV and recorded shows stored on my DVR anywhere I go by using this feature.
JimmyMackey commented on 'American Idol' Sudden Death: The guys get their shot
Thanks for the recap; it is quite detailed and goes over some of the best judges comments. There was a song I wanted to know what it was so I could find it, which was Raining on Sunday by Keith Urban. I really liked Jimmy’s performance and so did Keith. The trouble is, I work late at DISH a lot on Wednesday and Thursday but I catch up on my Idol later and save time by watching commercial free on my DISH Hopper DVR. I get all of my favorite primetime shows on FOX watched in no time at all without commercials, so I can fit in another show before I go to bed.

I am not surprised that The Walking Dead set another cable-series record since I wasn’t the only one waiting for its return! I was on the edge of my seat throughout the episode and it’ll be interesting to see what direction the show goes for the rest of the season. I may re-watch the midseason premiere later today on my iPad through the DISH Anywhere app. I like to watch my favorite shows on my train commute to and from work at DISH, and I do that since I have access to all my DVR recordings through this app.
JimmyMackey commented on 'American Idol' Oklahoma City: The recap
Yes, I agree that there were some likable talent, but none that was fantastic by any means. The big finish for the first talent round was that there were a lot of features presenting strange acting individuals like the people you mention here. I think in cases like Zonette, nerves get the best of them and they do things they wouldn’t normally do. I’m so glad I didn’t miss this episode though, like I used to, because this was a firecracker! I missed a lot of Idol shows previous to this year since I’m gone a lot for business or working late or gone with the kids, etc. Now though, I have a DISH Hopper that has PrimeTime Anytime, which automatically records my shows for me on the four big networks, each night during primetime hours. Thankfully though, my DISH Hopper holds them for 8 days before they are automatically deleted, that way I can watch it when I’m free, which is about the only way I’ll see any TV these days.
JimmyMackey commented on 'Idol' L.A. and San Antonio auditions: The recap
Yeah, I was surprised to find out Matheus was already a celebrity, but he seems rather humble for having that amazing previous opportunity. American Idol had a much larger audience though so I can understand his excitement over going on with the competition. I think America could really get behind this guy too. Although I wasn’t thrilled I heard him at 1 AM, since I couldn’t sleep, at least my PrimeTime Anytime feature on my DISH Hopper automatically recorded it. I worked late at DISH, so I wasn’t worried I would miss it. I like watching that way because all of the shows that I watch on the four big networks, during primetime hours, show up on my DVR the next day, so if I’m busy the next day, I can watch it any time during the 8 days before it gets deleted automatically.
radicalar commented on CW hoping for 'Cult' hit
Thanks for sharing Gary! I’ve been confused with this show pretty much since my coworker at DISH showed me the trailer for it a couple of weeks ago lol. I hope once the show starts it’s not like that, so I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for the premiere date to find out. There’s not too long of a wait left for the air date though, so I’ll make sure to set a recording timer for it on my DISH Hopper as soon as I can. Good thing I do have 2,000 hours of entertainment I can store, because now I have plenty of room to record this new series among all of my other favorite shows as well.
JimmyMackey commented on 'American Idol' Baton Rouge auditions: The recap
Dustin Watts sings well, but the judges weren’t overwhelmingly impressed. I think Nicki was right though that he looks the part, which sometimes makes more the difference than anything else. Some vocal training could actually put him over the top. Sometimes in the past I would miss Idol and be so mad though. Now, my DISH Hopper automatically records the shows for me on the four major networks during primetime using PrimeTime Anytime so I don’t have to miss Idol. I watched it live this time on my lunch break while at work at DISH since I had to work late, but I get awfully upset if I can’t see it at all. Oh, and after 8 days, my Hopper automatically deletes the recordings too so I don’t have to worry about the feature filling up my hard drive space.
JimmyMackey commented on 'American Idol': Charlotte auditions live blog
Yeah, like Nicki, I thought it was a poor choice for Guinn to choose the theme from the old Will Smith Comedy, but she made it her own AND did it better than Will ever did it. The thing that irritated me was when Nicki asked her to sing another song when the first was so perfect. Clearly the other judges didn’t like it either from how they praised her for how the first song was her best. I thought it was a fantastic episode though, which I usually watch at home the day after it airs, because my DISH Hopper has Auto Hop. I watch a lot of my shows commercial free with Auto Hop using PrimeTime Anytime recordings from the four major networks that record during primetime, but this time I watched it live, on my lunch break at work, at DISH. I use the time I save with Auto Hop to watch another show and I still get to bed on time, so I can still watch all of my shows without sacrificing my sleep.
JimmyMackey commented on 'American Idol' Charlotte auditions: The recap
Charlotte produced the most noteworthy singers and the judges even gave two standing ovations this time. I’m surprised Nicki walked out though because she is so strong willed and I really didn’t think she would cave to their pressure. It was a good episode though and I usually watch Idol the day after it airs, at home, with PrimeTime Anytime because my DISH Hopper has Auto Hop. Auto Hop lets me watch many shows commercial free, that recorded during primetime hours on the four major networks, but this time I watched it live, on my lunch break at work, at DISH. I use the time I save with Auto Hop to watch another show and I still get to bed on time so saving time like that really comes in handy when I have to work early.
JimmyMackey commented on 'American Idol' Chicago: The recap
You know, since the talent varies each year it could be easier to get to the top 40 one year over the previous year so perhaps this will be Neely’s year. I like Kiara though; she seems like a real down to earth gal and I hope we get to see more of her. My DISH coworker thought Curtis was a sure top 40 contestant because of how popular previous Gospel singers have been on Idol. I don’t have to worry about missing the show though because now I have PrimeTime Anytime, which automatically records the four major networks, plus any other two shows I want. My family doesn’t have to fight over the timers either and we get to watch what we want, since my DISH Hopper Whole-Home DVR records six shows during primetime hours each night.
