The Unforgettable Fire
The melodramatic wail. The echoing guitar. The bassist with silly hair. The tinted wraparounds. This veteran U2 tribute band has clearly done their homework. Playing pretend up and down the East Coast since 1995, TUF has fooled many—and led many more into drunken "Sunday Bloody Sunday" singalongs.
Appetite for Destruction
If you're looking for a less slurred, more technically savvy GNR tribute than local drunks Mr. Brownstone, check out these well-studied fanatics. You'll get all the old hits and, as a bonus, the Axl dude even plays his own piano parts on epics like "November Rain" and "Estranged."
The Fab Faux
They may not look like John, Paul, George and Ringo (hell, they're not even a quartet), but this Beatles tribute act nail the harmonies and whimsy that made the Fab Four such legends. Featuring members from Max Weinberg's Conan O'Brien crew and Paul Shaffer's Letterman band, these guys are much more than your typical bar band belting out "She Loves You." They even have a sold out Radio City moment to prove it.
Black Dog
While the world waits to see if Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones will finally embark on that long-awaited reunion tour, Black Dog is doing its best to keep the Zeppelin flame burning. The band handles both the acoustic hippie and devastating blues sides of Zep well, with guitarist Dan Toto working hard to replicate Page's singular squall.
Kissnation
Underneath all that black, white and silver makeup, it's not easy differentiating between this Kiss act and the real thing. They both wear glam space alien costumes and both rock and roll all night, etc. But only one contains a member who's supposedly slept with more than 4,600 women (probably).
