Jason Derulo's performance demonstrates the huge production that Idol producers are capable of giving performers. The dancers, the lights, the smoke, the pyros, etc. It just makes an artist look more pro. But it's good to see that he's back in shape to perform again!
Performance three: The Prayer by Jessica Sanchez.
Here is another ultra-serious performance by Jessica. I want to make this clear: I think she is unreal and has an absolutely freakishly strong voice. I just don't think people care now as much as they would have 20 years ago. The lights pretty much stayed on red with yellow beams behind for the duration of the performance. I thought this was a much stronger performance than I Have Nothing. But here's what she's up against: Phillip can mess up his lyrics, sing completely off-key and not even move on the stage and it won't change what his fans already think of him. But if Jessica misses one note, everybody will notice.
