My Local: Team Robespierre
What’s your local?
I go to Savalas because it’s close to my house and my friends work there.  It’s your typical Williamsburg spot. I wouldn’t say anything about it stands out, but maybe that’s why I like it. It’s a regular bar. It’s not too expensive, and they have good music.

What do they play?
There’s no jukebox, but they have a computer with tons of stuff on it. When my friends work, they play either rap or old punk.  They play a lot of Dirty South rap, like Three Six Mafia and Lil’ Wayne, or old hardcore like Gorilla Biscuits and Bad Brains.

What’s your drink of choice?
Whiskey and soda.

When do you usually go there?
Two of my friends work there on Wednesdays. I work at restaurant in the city, so I go at 3 a.m. when I get off. It’s always good, even at 3 a.m. on a Wednesday.  If I go, I know I’m going to see 20 of my friends in there. Even if there are only 30 people in the place, I’ll know most of them.

After you’ve had a few there, where do you go to eat?
I go to Dumont Burger, but I eat the mac-and-cheese there, not the hamburgers. There’s also a Mexican restaurant nearby called El Loco Burrito. I don’t really like it, but I go there a lot because it’s close.

As a member of a dance-rock band, do you have any recommendations for places to dance?
People like to dance really hard at Death by Audio. That’s the venue where the guys from A Place to Bury Strangers live. It’s not too big and not too small. You can probably fit 300 people there and it’ll be jammed, but you can also have 70 in there and it will still be good. It won’t seem too empty.
