A woman was killed and 19 others were injured when scaffolding was blown down right before a Linkin Park concert in Capetown, South Africa, according to reports from the BBC, The New York Times and Associated Press. The scaffolding was outside of the concert venue and was built to display a Lucozade energy drinks billboard, which fell down during high winds, landing on the concertgoers.

Linkin Park, which has been a major proponent of establishing safety stands for temporary stages in the USA, says the band has no connection with Lucozade or the group responsible for building the structure.

They also released a statement: "We wish to express our deep sadness and concern for those injured and our heartfelt condolences to the family of the fan who died as a result of her injuries."

According to News24, a South African news outlet, the scaffolding had been certified as safe. The band members learned of the accident after the show.

Linkin Park returns to the USA next week for the American Music Awards.
