The Lovemakers
Lisa Light and Scott Blonde didn’t work out as a romantic item, but their musical chemistry was definitely worth preserving after an unfun breakup of their long-term relationship. Better known as the Lovemakers, the Oakland-based pair began as more of an electro-pop sensation at Bay Area nightclubs, but has been known more recently to inject its digital grooving with some guitar jangle that has resulted in a more well-defined and structured sound.

The Lovemakers continues to thrive because there is a sense of humor about the group’s history; Light and Blonde even named their new album "Misery Loves Company," which is also the name of one of the set’s most lively highlights (along with the XTC-like “We Already Said Goodbye”). Another hallmark of a cool live band: They also have great merch, like their “Oakland is for Lovemakers” T-shirts and badges which are a bit too, erm, cheeky to describe.
