Dungen
When Dungen's 2004 album "Ta Det Lugnt" hit U.S. shores, crate diggers could have been forgiven for thinking they unearthed an overlooked classic from the ‘60s. A mix of jazz, folk and psychedelic rock full of screaming guitars, it was hard to believe that it and 2007 follow up "Tio Bitar" were largely the work of one man from a small village in Sweden. Dungen's new album "4" finds the group morphing into a true band. Perhaps as a result, the wild guitar playing of bandleader Gustav Ejstes is dialed back in favor of a piano-based, jazzier sound. You probably won't see as many people throwing devil horns at the band's shows this time around, but the talent on display won't be any less breathtaking. There aren't too many other bands out there that can recall Steely Dan, Jethro Tull, The Who and a Swedish version of the Beverly Hillbillies within one concert-let alone one song. Playing with Muslims, Marissa Nadler, TK Webb & the Visions. TICKET INFO.
