Black Lips

Black Lips may not piss in their own mouths on stage anymore (ah, maturity), but plenty of Brooklyn lager flew when they got going Sunday at McCarren Park Pool. The Atlanta band is known as much for their raucous live shows as their self-proclaimed "flower punk," which is actually a vibrant mix of raw Stooges power and lo-fi garage punk. Fellow Atlantans Deerhunter brought a similar unpredictability to the stage—where frontman Bradford Cox can embody a hundred firecrackers exploding one after the other. King Kahn and the Shrines opened. Why do these free Sunday shows have to end?
