Chairlift playing the Music Slut day party
October 21, 2008
On the first official day of CMJ we were well-rested, hardly hungover (for the first time in years) and primed to see Chairlift twice—of ten opportunities throughout the week. We also stopped by the Brooklyn Vegan showcase at Music Hall of Williamsburg to talk with members of Ponytail, Phenomenal Handclap Band and Passion Pit. Non-traditional music mecca New Zealand represented early with a sorta homegrown showcase featuring Cut Off Your Hands and The Ruby Sons. V Magazine also threw an early party with Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson, Lissy Trullie and Lykke Li. We’ll be hearing from the Swedish songstress again this week, that’s for sure.
Interviews and reporting by Matt Rodbard, Jason Newman and Cristina Black. Photos by Ryan Muir, Sam Horine and Gabi Porter.
