Cold War Kids started heating up in 2006, with bloggers fanning the flames as well as the backlash. The cautious California boys, who met at evangelical college, were careful not to flood the market, releasing a series of EPs before their debut full-length, "Robbers & Cowards." The album is a yelpy amalgam of all things indie-rock, with a spiritual bent to the lyrics—think Jack White going to bible camp with Spoon. They released a follow-up, "Loyalty to Loyalty," in September 2008. With Kuroma.
