Forget about trying to pronounce the name of MGMT—it’s always best just to keep mum until the headband-wearing New Yorkers introduce themselves. Once they did the McCarren Pool crowd witnessed an ecstatically psychedelic pop band heavily reliant on keyboards, with shades of the Flaming Lips and Of Montreal. Their debut album, "Oracular Spectacular," is full of shimmery psychedelic rock that paired nicely with the experimental electronica opener Black Moth Super Rainbow. The Pittsburgh fivesome's fourth album, "Dandelion Gum," is a gently rolling synth-pop pleasure, perfect for head-nodding in the summer sun. The Ting Tings kicked things off.
