Mika
October 16, 2009
With help from the British music press and Perez Hilton, Michael Holbrook Penniman, aka Mika, made a big splash in 2007 with his candy-colored debut LP, “Life in Cartoon Motion.” The album’s over-the-top mix of show tune–inspired pop, cheesy electronica and Freddie Mercury-esque vocals made the Scissor Sisters seems positively tame by comparison. His second release, “The Boy Who Knew Too Much,” finds the Lebanese-born, London-based singer teaming up again with producer Greg Wells (Katy Perry, Rufus Wainwright), who also helmed “Cartoon Motion.” It’s goooood.
