Monsters of Folk
November 6, 2009
A supergroup for the kinds of fans who like their rock more shambolic than super, Monsters of Folk is composed of a holy trinity of this decade's best indie rock songwriters: falsetto-voiced My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James, Bright Eyes wunderkind Conor Oberst and Zooey Deschanel-duetter M. Ward, as well as Oberst's better half in Bright Eyes, über-producer Mike Mogis. No wonder, given their reputations, that in certain circles, their debut record, was one of the most anticipated of 2009.
