"Doolittle" aged like a fine wine
November 23, 2009
Leave it to late-'80s post-punk legends the Pixies to take what has now become a concert cliché—the classic album played in its entirety—and find a way to put their own twisted little spin on it. The highly anticipated "Doolittle" tour hit Hammerstein Ballroom, where Frank Black and company dispensed both lost nuggets at the open ("Weird at My School") and the album’s hit parade in order (“Wave of Mutilation," “Debaser”). Pre-“Doolittle” favorites “Where Is My Mind?” and “Gigantic” closed the show.
