Boys and girls in America may have a sad time together, as the Kerouac-inspired Hold Steady lyric goes, but that's not the case at their shows. Brooklyn’s best “party band” has built a formidable following based largely on their spectacularly spirited live shows and unique melding of classic rock with urban Beat poetry. The summer Pool season kicked off with soggy sets by the Loved Ones and J Roddy and The Business, before clouds parted for the headliner.
