The Roots
April 6, 2009
As The Roots make their transition from constantly-touring hip-hop group to Jimmy Fallon’s Max Weinberg (or Doc Severinsen for you slightly older readers), most of America’s loss is New York’s gain. Laying down roots (sorry) in New York means finding a quasi-permanent home at Highline Ballroom, where the band has taken up 14-night weekly residency. With Skillz, Andy Bey, Joel Ortiz, Mr. Lif, Marc Cary, Patmore Lewis and Mingus Murray.
