The Shackeltons
Named after Antarctica explorer Earnest Shackelton (what, you got a better influence?), this five-piece display frantic, jerky guitars like some of their neo-punk-funk brethren. But unlike some of their peers, their songs vary in intensity and mood, shifting from subtle anxiety to fractious aggressiveness. Lead singer Mark Redding has been known to get, uh, slightly into the band’s set (to understate immensely), so we’ll all be watching to see who gets taken out onstage. If you’re into: Wire, The Pixies
