When we caught young Nashville punks Be Your Own Pet back in November, the show could only be described as a beautiful disaster. While the actual music was rushed and mostly unintelligible (even by punk rock standards), the loopy performance put on by lead fireplug Jemina Pearl was a masochistic wonder. As the gig progressed, she began to throw herself onto everything: the floor, her band mates, unforgiving amplifiers. Returning three months later, Pearl acknowledged the pre-Thanksgiving meltdown before launching into furiously tight (and sober) set, playing mostly new songs from the band’s forthcoming release.
