Warped (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
For years, Lawrence Tumminia’s friends called him Kiedis, thanks to the singer’s striking resemblance to Anthony Kiedis and the non-stop rotation of Chili Peppers tunes blasting from his bedroom. Then, in March of 2003, he was given tickets to a Monsters of Mock cover showcase and the idea struck him. “It was like a calling for me!” he says. “I wanted to be on stage playing tribute to one of my all-time favorite bands.” This “calling” has taken Warped to venues across the Eastern Seaboard, including two tours to Puerto Rico. (Random true story: Tumminia’s construction company was once invited to bid on Flea’s new deck at his Montauk house.)
