Friendly Fires
March 26, 2009
If you’ve ever read the hyperbolic, ever-excited British music magazine New Musical Express (NME), you pretty much know what you’re getting with this “NME Tour.” (Hint: Think jagged guitar lines, cheeky lyrics and a beat propulsive enough to dance to.) White Lies channel Echo and the Bunnymen and Psychedelic Furs’ brand of post-punk. Friendly Fires lean toward the New Romantic and disco side of the dance-rock equation. Openers The Soft Pack, formerly The Muslims (strangely enough a U.S. band), combine the dirty blues rock of The Gun Club with the intelligent insouciance of Modern Lovers.
