Liars have spent the last few years trying to get as far away as possible from the then-trendy dance-punk of the early ‘00s that brought them to hipster fame, embracing an experimental approach that culminated in a dissonant, tuneless concept album. Their new self-titled one, thankfully, rediscovers the groove they're so good at (actual hooks!) while still incorporating elements of everything from dub to noise rock to prog.
