If the Pixies reunion a few years ago was the tour most indie rock fans thought they’d never get to see, then this is the tour most indie rock fans REALLY thought they’d never get to see. After releasing the hugely influential “Loveless” in 1991 (Pitchfork voted it the second-best album of the ‘90s, after Radiohead’s “OK Computer”) bandleader Kevin Shields essentially disappeared from the music scene. Reports from the band’s shows in Europe and at this past weekend’s All Tomorrow’s Parties are that MBV remains ear-splittingly loud and its formula of crushing guitar noise mixed with beautiful melodies is as affecting as ever. With Wounded Knees and Le Volume Courbe.
