Peter Bjorn and John
March 17, 2009
Call it a sign of the times, but apparently W Hotels has to throw in a live Peter, Bjorn and John concert to sell their $400 hotel suites. That was the marketing conceit for the inaugural Wonderlust concert, a boozy affair that gave hotel guests an autograph session, mix CD and the SXSW-bound trio for 45 minutes. Live! In an ugly hotel ballroom! The set was the Swedes' first in the US in over a year and featured many cuts from their forthcoming album, "Living Thing." With it's buzzy electro bop and slim "808s & Heartbreak" production, we're going to call standout song "It Don't Move Me" the best possible direction the long-dormant band could be taking. It should be the single. It has to be!
We spoke with the members of PB&J and superfan Parker Posey—until a shitty In-Touch reporter hijacked the interview to ask her about Ryan Adams' recent nuptials to Mandy Moore. Classy! Julia Stiles, Zach Condon and Chromeo's Dave 1 were also spotted. Dave tells us he's holding off on any touring until the new album is done. You shouldn't be partying. Get back in the studio man!
