Lou Reed is loved; doesn't love war
March 18, 2008
It’s been five long years since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq and in response a few prominent NYC musicians (Norah Jones, Damien Rice, Moby, David Byrne) thought it would be a good idea to recognize that grim milestone with a special benefit concert. Organized by Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson and Antony Hagerty (of Antony and the Johnsons), the Speak Up! show at DUMBO’s St. Ann’s Warehouse pooled artists and activists together to raise funds for anti-war organizations United for Peace and Iraq Veterans Against the War. —Cristina Black
