A Rivers shreds through it

It’s hard to keep track if Weezer is still a “cool” band on not. Depending on who you ask, they are either the Patron Saints of Nerd Rock or a washed-up, older version of the latest punk-pop act. We waver daily, but the band’s legacy of catchy pop songs underneath a sea of crunchy grunge-lite guitars has already been cemented with tracks “Buddy Holly,” “Hash Pipe” and, hell, virtually all of “Pinkerton.” The band has increasingly relied on a bombastic live show, though damn if we know what the irony level is on that one. They played the Garden with Angels and Airwaves and Tokyo Police Club.
