Featuring Weezer, MGMT, Girl Talk, Matt & Kim, Foxy Shazam, Minus The Bear, Joy Formidable
These days the Bamboozle Festival can't necessarily be pegged as a punk festival. Held on May 1 and 2 at the Meadowlands Sports Complex, the 'Boozle featured dozens of Warped-friendly acts (Piebald, Motion City Soundtrack, Foxy Shazam), as well as a few off-beat choices—heavily showcased on the final day. Co-headliners MGMT (who played a tight, inspiring set) curated a side stage with Violens, Kuroma and Francis and the Lights—Andrew and Ben were spotted in the (sadly) thin crowd. Up front. Matt and Kim and Girl Talk both put fresh spins on ‘90s FM radio hits. (Since when is M&K a cover band?) Weezer headlined with what they do best—the hits, lots of new material. And sing-song rapper Ke$ha instilled some crucial wisdom as she closed her set. “Don’t pass out, get laid,” said the pop star before exiting to a waiting spaceship.
