Taking Back Sunday
For all the talk of this year's Bamboozle Festival being the weirdest festival on record (OK, that's what we called it), things were pretty normal on day two. Yes, there was a B-Boy stage, a rather thriving dance/DJ area called Temple of Boozle, some Mexican wrestling and a few genuine what-the-? appearances (indie rockers Tokyo Police Club as a main stage act, hot rap duo Das Racist playing for maybe 100 people on a side stage...and ending their set with "Thank you, we're Taking Back Sunday.")
But for the most part, this could have been 2005. The Movielife and the original lineup of Taking Back Sunday reunited, Dashboard Confessional inspired singalongs, and a few second stage acts made their marks—thumbs up to British hardcore-singer-turned-folkie Frank Turner and the eight-piece, horn/strings/keyboard pogo pop of River City Extension. (A sad non-surprise: The rumored Springsteen cameo during Gaslight Anthem on stage didn't happen). Here's to more weirdness on day three—Insane Clown Posse, Motley Crue and Lil Wayne, be awesomely freaky today. —Kirk Miller
