Latest Release: “Relayted” (out on Jagjaguwar)
Who: With 23 members, this band could be called a “supergroup” based solely on sheer size. The fact that Justin Vernon and Mike Noyce of Bon Iver, fellow Minneapolis rockers Solid Gold and rapper P.O.S., as well as members of North Carolina’s the Rosebuds and Megafaun, are all involved make this ’80s soft-rock-inspired collective a supergroup in the truest sense.
What they’re saying: "Gayngs [is] a sprawling collective with the mission of playing lush ‘80s soft-rock makeout music—the kind of making out that leaves you asking, 'Is that your tongue in your cheek or are you just happy to see me?'" – The A.V. Club
What we’re saying: This gigantic group has the humor and musical chops to make the potentially schmaltzy ‘80s sound thoroughly enjoyable, as on the sax-infused “The Gaudy Side of Town,” which practically screams for a steamy smooch session. – Jessica Jardine
