Beady Eye
There was lots of Manchester pouting with pronounced cheekbones at last night's sold out and sweaty Beady Eye show at Webster Hall. The famously bratty Brothers Gallagher may not be speaking to each other anymore, but Liam and his Oasis bandmates decided to get on with things with this latest incarnation of players and songs. Beady Eye's 'debut' album, "Different Gear, Still Speeding," is surprisingly satisfying and meaty for those diehard Oasis addicts waiting for their next fix, in spite of the absence of Noel's lead vocals with a new spotlight on Liam's reedy tenor. And for new fans it adds an element of joyful playing and cohesion as a band we haven't seen from these guys since...maybe ever. The live show left the crowd wanting for nothing, except a few Oasis 'covers.'
