Best Coast and Wavves | Webster Hall
Wavves frontman Nathan Williams has refined the band's sound a bit over the past couple of years, but have no fear lo-fi fans—there's still plenty of distortion and noise underlying and overlaying their psych-punk-meets-dream-pop cuts. Somehow, though, melody after melody rises to the top on killer sophomore release "King of the Beach" on Fat Possum. It was one of our favorite records of 2010.
Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino has become an A-lister in the indie blogosphere, releasing a steady stream of great pop singles with just enough elements of chillwave and noise-pop that she's been occasionally lumped in with the Vivian Girls. The pair is dating, share a love of orange cats (just like us!) and co-headlined this sold-out show at Webster Hall. With No Joy. SEE COMPLETE GALLERY
