Broken Social Scene
Has it already been five years since BSS released their self-titled third album? Yes it has. Wow, where did the ‘00s go? Regardless, there’s a follow-up (finally) from the Canadian indie rock collective led by Kevin Drew and Brandon Canning, and frequently aided by friends like Feist, Metric’s Emily Haines and others. The new album called “Forgiveness Rock Record” is a mixed bag—sloppy rockers, indie poppers, plaintive ballads—that doesn’t beg for a listen but offers good stuff to those who take time with it.
