CAKE
Thankfully for lovers of the California band's lazily funky college rock, immediately recognizable by frontman Jon McCrea's deadpan sing-speak vocals, Cake has returned for another round of touring action. A new studio album, "Showroom of Compassion", is slated for January 2011. McCrea describes the album's sound as "very different" from previous CAKE records. It is also being recorded with only solar power. We heard some of the new tracks at Irving Plaza, plus, obviously, "The Distance".
