A million streams later, an NYC debut
Filipina pop upstart and YouTube phenomenon Charice made her New York debut at an invite-only performance at Tribeca's Canal Room. Free sushi and open bar plied and lubricated a receptive audience with mixed company of Prada suits and Hot Topic tees. The jury is still out on the 17 year old singer's surreal and imposing vocal skills. We’re looking for a little more innovation—it’s needed to battle the hordes of “American Idol” rejects and Mickey Mouse singer-for-hire ingénues. But at such a young age, the future looks promising.
