A triumphant return of hardcore's most underrated band
They remain a well-kept secret outside of metalcore circles, but make no mistake: Converge are one of the most respected and important hardcore bands of the past 20 years. Rising out of Boston's early '90s hardcore scene and led by singer/visual artist Jacob Bannon, Converge combine the sweaty intensity of Black Flag with the pummeling riffs of Slayer, making every performance an exercise in brutal precision. Not for the faint of heart—or even, say, your average Metallica fan. On Wednesday, the band played with up-and-comers Touche Amore and Krallice.
