Aussie electro-pop at Prospect Park
Despite calling Melbourne, Australia home, Cut Copy is starting to feel more and more like a New York band. The electro-pop group, touring for the last year behind their slightly less synth-y third release "Zonoscope," has hit NYC at least three times in the last twelve months, drawing larger and more exuberant crowds each time. Thursday, the group headlined the outdoor concert series Celebrate Brooklyn!, and while the new tracks veered a bit more toward groovy indie rock, it was the New Order vibe of 2008's "Hearts on Fire" that transformed Prospect Park into the summer's biggest rave (btw, were those glowsticks behind us?). Speaking of retro, indie dance act Foster the People opened and scored the loudest cheers of the night with their cover of Weezer's "Say It Ain't So." —Kirk Miller
