Fashionable trainers and signature short shorts mark the rise of a new British songstress
How is it that the English manage to produce these adorable girls who can really bloody well sing? First they sent us Lily Allen, Corinne Bailey Rae, Duffy, Joss Stone, Adele—we won't mention Ms. Winehouse only because she'd never be mistaken for adorable. And now, Eliza Doolittle. The curly haired songstress wore fashionable trainers and her signature short shorts, playing to a room full of appreciative souls shouting things like: "Do you have a man friend?" (In which she pointed to her band and said, "I have lots of man friends!") The front row was made up of uber-fans who already knew all the words to all her songs, which are already big in the UK. Industry types and bloggers filled in the rest of the sweaty sardine can. "I wish I could play to all for hours, but I only have one album!" Ms Doolittle apologized during the encore. We'll wait.
